At Sakar, you’ll be working on well-run commercial sites with experienced trades, supported by apprentices who want to learn properly. Teams are stable, people tend to stay, and there’s a strong sense of backing each other on site. Carpenters are trusted to lean into the type of work they do best, whether that’s first fix, second fix, or detail-critical finishes.​

 

The sites are organised, professional and metro Adelaide based. Quality work is the baseline. When something needs attention, it gets talked through and sorted. That’s how the job keeps moving and why the days feel manageable.

Pay sits between $36–$52 per hour, depending on experience, capability and responsibility. We’re not chasing short stints. We’re building long-term careers. As your skills and leadership grow, there’s room to step into roles such as Senior Carpenter, Leading Hand or Supervisor, with consistent hours and continuity across projects.

The work

​

You’ll be part of a stable crew delivering commercial carpentry on a mixture of projects ranging from short to long-running sites, with the time and structure to do the work properly.

Depending on your strengths and interests, your role may include:​

• First and second fix commercial carpentry

• Door frames, doors and hardware

• Skirting, architraves and linings

• Cladding and Linings

• Joinery and solid timber work

• High-finish interior fit-outs

• Commercial Carpentry

Our projects are detail-driven, well coordinated and run by experienced leading hands.

 

A standard day:

You arrive on site knowing where you’ll be working, who you’re working with, and what needs to get done. The site’s set up properly, the leading hand has a plan, and the drawings make sense. The pace is steady, not frantic. You get into the work you’re good at, whether that’s first fix, second fix, or detail work where doing it right the first time is the norm. Questions get answered, problems get talked through, and if someone needs a hand, someone steps in. You knock off knowing the work’s solid, the team’s got your back, and you’ll be back on the same site tomorrow

We're looking for someone who​

​

• Is a Trade-qualified carpenter

• Holds a Construction Induction White Card

• Has a Licence and reliable transport

• Is Skilled at reading and interpreting plans and drawings

• Thinks ahead, solves problems as they come up, and doesn’t wait to be told every next step

• Communicates clearly on site and gets along with a wide range of people

• Takes pride in turning out work you’re happy to put your name to

• Shows up on time, follows through, and can be relied on by the rest of the crew

• Understands Workplace Health & Safety on commercial sites and takes that responsibility seriously

• Is comfortable working independently when needed, and just as comfortable backing up the team

• Is experienced in commercial construction (advantageous but not essential)

 

In short, if you’re a qualified carpenter who knows their way around commercial sites, can read drawings without squinting, who backs your team-mates and can hold your own whether you're working solo or as part of the crew, we want to hear from you!
